The University of Kentucky College of Engineering is pleased to announce that Laura Letellier has been selected as the Institution Faculty/Staff “Of the Month” from the National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH).
Formula Kentucky, the University of Kentucky’s Formula Society of Automotive Engineers Team, competed in the Formula SAE® Michigan competition held at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan, May 10-13. Its appearance marked the second year in a row in which UK has participated in the event. Thirteen team members made the trip.
The University of Kentucky Society of Women Engineers (SWE) has been named the 2016-2017 academic year Student Organization of the Year. ECE Faculty member Dr. Himanshu Thapliyal and his students T. Varun and Dinesh Kumar recently won a Best Paper Award for their paper entitled “UTB-SOI Based Adiabatic Computing for Low Power and Secure IoT Devices”, which they presented at the 12th Annual Cyber and Information Security Research (CISR) Conference at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory April 4-6, 2017.
John Balk, professor of materials engineering in the University of Kentucky College of Engineering, has been named a 2017 SEC (Southeastern Conference) Faculty Achievement Award winner.
Fourteen students from the University of Kentucky College of Engineering traveled to Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) SoutheastCon 2017 in Charlotte, N.C. March 30 – April 2. Students participated in a variety of competitions: hardware competition, software competition, ethics competition, student paper competition, t-shirt design competition and website competition.
The SME Eastern Collegiate Mine Rescue Spring Contest will be held on April 1, 2017 at the Clarion Hotel Conference Center-North (1950 Newtown Pike, Lexington, Kentucky 40511).
Mining students from across the world and 17 universities will visit Lexington this week as the UK Muckin’ Wildcats Mining Team hosts the International Intercollegiate Mining Competition from March 22-26.
